Here We Are
It’s time.
I’ve started prepping to move. I know I won’t be moving for another month or so, but it’s time to get started so I don’t have to worry about rushing to do it later. Surprising for me, I know.
I’m heading down the new place in about an hour to start removing all the furniture from the kitchen and arranging it to some sort of neat order. I don’t think I’ll be moving anything up from downstairs yet, mostly because I don’t have someone to hold the other end of anything heavy or awkward (and most of the things downstairs are one or the other).
Afterwards, I’ll be heading out with Stacy to get Emmie something for her birthday. I have absolutely NO idea what I’m gonna get her, but it’ll come to me.
I know I haven’t really posted anything really tech-related on here in a few days, it’s just been rather hectic in life for a while and I haven’t had the chance to really play with anything yet. I AM installing VMWare and going to try out gOS 3, so maybe I’ll post something here about that later on tonight.

Today marks a step in the right direction for my new apartment. I now have new carpeting!
I spent most of my day down at the new place, sitting bored in the downstairs apartment alternating between browsing the web using my phone as a tether (since NOBODY in that section of Ashley has a WiFi network I can just pop onto for a while) and starting the primering on the downstairs walls as a helping hand for my mother. The carpet installers showed up at roughly 9, and worked till I assume about 4 or so. I ended up leaving at 3, giving them the OK to keep working and lock up when they were done, because I had to pick up Emmie and take her to a doctor’s appointment for a physical for the daycare she’s at.
The carpeting itself is great. A nice medium shade of grey, which will hide the dirt a bit longer and looks awesome with the white walls/grey trim paint schema I’ve got going on down there. A possible plan for tomorrow morning sometime is heading down there to get all the furniture out of the kitchen and start organizing it into a pattern I’d like to have it in. I have a few ideas, but I need to see how things will fit with each other to see which one wins out.
Hopefully we can get the electrician in soon to get this work done, since my mother said her plan for it was to have me in by Halloween, which could make for an awesome housewarming party setting. Wonder if I’d get any sexy nurses dropping by? ^_^
I’ll take some pictures of the place if I go down tomorrow and post them to Flickr for all to see. I guess it’s finally time to start packing up some of the things I have here at the parents’ house in preparation and start moving them over there slowly. Things like the books and whatnot can go early, things like the electronics will go when I am finally moving in. I use those too much to be without them for a length of time like that.
I also need to figure this out because I need to set up something for internet service. I was thinking of going with cable, since I had it in the past and like the raw speed capability it gives, but being on a shared loop isn’t always a good thing plus I’m sure Service Electric isn’t too happy with me bailing on them after the last place I lived in (surprisingly, I never got a bill or a phone call even though my phone number is on file with them, and I still have 2 of the 3 cable boxes they were renting me as well as a cable modem). I think I’m gonna go with 3meg (possibly 5 meg) DSL, just because it’s a little cheaper and I’m on a dedicated circuit with the net, so I don’t have to worry about random speed drops during the day.
Anyone with ideas, well wishes, gifts, etc. is welcome to leave them here.
No commentsLet There Be Rock….2!
So Rock Band 2 just launched for the Xbox 360. I picked up the game only, and will be buying the drum kit tomorrow when I get paid.
Why?
Steel reinforced kick pedal, velocity sensitive pads, noise reduction, better bounce response, and the add-on cymbal pack. These drums will be EPIC.
I know the cymbals won’t really do anything extra in the game itself, but they do add on the cymbal sounds when you’re playing Freestyle mode, which you can do to any song through the xbox media player thing.
Also, the song list in RB2 has some awesome songs, and some that I will likely only ever play when I have to beat them in Tour mode. Some of those songs just SUCK to play.
But you can’t beat having White Wedding, Battery, Man in the Box, and Peace Sells on there. EPIC WIN.

Well, it’s nearing the time that the carpet installation at my new apartment should be going on. This means I have to finish the painting there this week.
I don’t honestly have that much more to do, but it’s getting the motivation to get down there and actually accomplish it that’s the problem.
Take today. I had planned on going down there around 11 AM to start. It’s now nearly 2 and all I’ve accomplished is ordering wings for lunch and starting to prep to leave.
Ah well, at least I still have a few hours left to paint today. I’m gonna have to work my ass off but I can get it done between today and tomorrow.
Hopefully once the carpet’s in, we can get the electrical stuff done in a snap so I can start moving in. I would love to finally have my own place again, even with that meaning I’ll have that much less money every month. It would feel rather nice.
Anyway, I just thought I’d post something here as a quick update. I’ll post another something later on with a more substantial topic.
