Cynicism at its finest.
So, here we go. Thought I’d try the hard hat of the cynic on for a while tonight. Don’t feel bad about this, because I probably won’t care.
First off, I’ve just had my ass handed to me on a silver platter no less than 4 times tonight playing against a MODERATE AI in Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance. I don’t know how the prick can send wave after wave after wave of little bastard laser-toting walker bots at my base when I’m less than two minutes into the game and still building essential base functions, like collectors and factories to generate the little laser-toting walker bots of my own to shoot these asshats back.
Second, I’ve just seen the movie 21 earlier this afternoon. While it is a good movie, I’ll give it that, it has some bad points. A college professor teaches students to count cards. Ok, plausible, I’ll give you that. Then they head to Vegas and fleece the casinos. On top of that, the main character has been learning to count said cards for all of, oh I don’t know, 3 days. Now, this one might be extreme ignorance on my part on how the game is played and how ACTUAL card counting works, but how in the deus does racking up an imaginary total of cards against you actually help you win anything? I mean, it’s still up to luck. This made it seem like if you can figure out how to add 1+1, you can make thousands of dollars at a casino at a possible cost of your physical health if the greedy buggers catch you doing math in your head.
Third, I’ve still heard NOTHING about the open position for Agent at my store. This is more frustration than anything talking, but the interview was last Wednesday for Deus’ sake! I’d appreciate a little insight as to whether or not I’ll be told I got it or not sometime this century.
Fourthly, my brain has been running in a retarded little circle from left to right to left again because our D&D game is starting to fall apart due to some players suddenly moving, reducing the likelihood of their showing up to games to very close to nil. Is it not possible for me to start a game and finish the damned campaign? Is that too much to ask for? I’m going to start chaining players in my basement until we finish this because damnit, I’m finally able to play again and that is NOT being ripped from me this time.
I think I’m done raving about for now, watch out for any stray cynic I may have left behind, because it stains and sticks to your shoes like dog doo.
No commentsNew "Logo" image
I decided that, since this was my site and all, I would make an attempt to make a custom logo image to replace the funny paint-splatter image that Mukku (whomever created this great theme) designed to go along with said theme. I’m kinda liking it, but I’d like your comments on it. Please, leave a comment, share it with your friends and get their ideas, post ideas of your own, have a blast! Just don’t rip off anyone’s pictures/artwork without getting their permission (both for yourself and for the site if you intend me to actually use it and I actually decide to), and be original if you decide to post an image and link to it for “ideas” I can use.
No commentsI need a vacation.
Yes, I really do. I’ve become burnt out and disillusioned with work as of late. The boring, humdrum of it all is starting to really get to me. I’ve started to really relish the days off I have, even with the crazy awesomeness that picking up Emmie sometimes involves. I swear that child might take over the world before I do.
Anyway, I’m very tempted to take some of my personal time off from work, maybe just a few days, maybe a week or so. I’m not sure, since A) I’m not sure how the department would cope without me there for a protracted amount of time, and B) I’m not sure what I’D do with that much time off. I haven’t taken a vacation from any job in years. Close to 6, actually. I’ve been working full time for over a year now, working full-time hours for closer to 3, and working in general for 7 years. I think I’m due a bit of a rest, but I really have no idea what I would do with myself. I have noone I really hang out with on any regular basis, all I really have is the computer and video games, and even they get boring after a few hours anymore.
Maybe I should have a movie-watching session with some people. I dunno. If anyone has any ideas, please share, since I have no idea at this point what I would do if I had time off like that.
In other news, I got some of the pictures from Easter uploaded to Flickr. Here are two, the rest can be found by the flickr feed off to the right.
